MUS - Fine Arts Museum

The millenary session of the Hungarian Parliament in 1896 passed a law whereby art collections previously held in different institutions were to be unified and placed in the newly-established Museum of Fine Arts. On the basis of a competitive tender, Albert Schickendanz and Fülöp Herzog were commissioned to design and construct the building, which opened in 1906. The gallery displaying original paintings was placed in the first floor halls of the neo-classical building, and although at the beginning only plaster scultures were available, as the collection was growing, all the copies were replaced by original artworks..

The Museum is not only special for it's collection and wide variety of permanent and temporary expositions, but for it's location and exterior view as well. It is situated on the left side of the Heroes' Square, overviewing the square and the Andrássy Avenue. Here you can see beautiful thing is a splendid location. Could you imagine any better place than this?
