DESCRIPTION In 1910 the restaurant became one of the most luxurious and exquisite restaurant in Budapest. Incidentally, Károly Gundel published several books on catering and the art of cuisine. In 1991, with his partner Ronald S. Lauder, the well-known businessman, George Lang the restaurateur, gastronomic writer and journalist came to a settlement with members of the Gundel family and acquired the famous restaurant. The menu in the new Gundel is based on traditional Hungarian cuisine as once practiced. Generally speaking, dishes served in the new Gundel are lighter and healthier than they had ever been in the restaurant's one-hundred-year history.
