DESCRIPTION The Bor La Bor unites the traditional atmosphere of wine-drinking and civilised hospitality. This old style, red brick building has modern furniture which creates unique surroundings. The range of selection includes six top quality house wines and around fifty different types of bottled wines from all the significant wine-growing regions of Hungary.
The wines by the carafe from the Vylyan wine-cellars of Villány or the Mátraalja are served at an optimal temperature following techniques of modern storage and cooling applied in Western Europe with the exclusion of air in order to preserve original freshness. In the menu they have also broken with tradition.
Suited to the characteristic atmosphere of the wine-cellar, the restaurant offers for the customers a wine cuisine where emphasis is laid primarily on old Hungarian flavours, combined however with certain dishes of modern cookery as well. There is a speciality consisting of three different pastes (cream of cracklings, cream of aubergine and spiced sheep cheese) has proved highly successful, providing an exciting culinary experience even on an occasion of a wine-tasting. The majority of the cold dishes are served on hand-made wooden plates. Customers can slice the sausage, bacon, onion or brawn for themselves on their own chopping-boards while sipping wine from crystal glasses. This unusual duality is deliberate: they guarantee visitors casual, familiar, but at the same time superior hospitality.
