This is the most important tourist area next to Budapest and Lake Balaton.

Visegrád Mountains can be found on the right shore along with the Pilis Mountains, while Börzsöny Mountains can be found on the left, and the twisting Danube makes it the country's most diversified, richest area in natural beauty.

Trip to Esztergom, the former "capital" of Hungary, visit the Castle Hill, Basilica (Hungary's largest Catholic Church), medieval royal palace.

View of the system of fortifications in Visegrád (Fellegvár, panorama of the Danube Bend, Royal Palace, Salamon Tower). As this village is the middle of the excursion, we suggest having lunch here. There are two very good restaurants, the Sirály offers good quality lunch, and the Renaissance gives taste of the lifestyle of the Middle Ages. There is also possibility for middle Ages show with welcome drink and cake, knight fight programme with royal feast afterwards.

Szentendre was once built up (end of 17th century) from the Balkans, by Serbian and Dalmatian settlers escaping the Turks. Walk in Szentendre popular for tourists and artists (Main Square, Greek Church, Museum of Margit Kovács, church hill with a Catholic church from the 14th century). The town offers also various possibilities for lunch or dinners with its typical cosy restaurants, but there is also possible enjoy a nice winetasting.

Trip back to Budapest (by bus or boat).
