Budapest citytour halfday

For discovering our capital we suggest to have this basic tour in the beginning of your stay.

During the tour we visit Heroes' Square that was built in the end of the XIX. century, and the visitors can see the sculptures of the more than a thousand years old Hungarian history's most significant personalities. In the green park of City Park (Városliget), that occupies a field of one square kilometre, we find a romantic boating-lake that works as a skating rink during winter time. The Caste of Vajdahunyad that was built in the end of the XIX. The structure combines all architectural styles from Romanesque to Baroque. Today it is the home of the Agricultural Museum. Széchenyi-bath is one of the largest bath complexes in Europe and it is the biggest public bath in the Austro-Hungarian era. The park also hosts the 'Budapest-Prater', offering a pleasant relaxation with modern and traditional games, the Zoo, being built by the example of Hamburg-Zoo, where animals are held in an environment similar to their natural habitat, and the Big Circus of Capital.

Through Andrássy Street, Budapest's most beautiful avenue we reach the city centre. The European continent's first underground railway runs under the avenue. In the banking-quarter of the City raises the cupola of the country's third biggest Catholic Church, Szent István Basilica. In this quarter are the impressive buildings of the Hungarian National Bank and the Hungarian Television. In front of these buildings stands the last Soviet Monument of Hungary.

On the Danube bank stands the country's largest building, the Parliament. As a special programme we can visit the interior of the exquisite House of Parliament. Crossing the river Danube we reach its right bank, which is called Buda. The most significant sights of Buda side are the Buda Castle Quarter belonging to UNESCO World Heritage, the block of the Baroque style Royal Palace and the civil living quarter with Mátyás Church. Fishermen's Bastion with its graceful line of buildings is overlooking the left bank of Danube, a breathtaking view on Pest side. As a special programme, the 15 km long labyrinth leading beneath the Castle Area can be visited.

On top of Mount-Gellért is the Statue of Liberty together with the building of Citadella, being the symbols of Budapest. A marvellous view is to be seen from this spot on all the capital.

The tour takes approx. 3 hours.
