Bath - Gellért

Hungary is one of the richest country in thermal and mineral water in Europe. Because of its climate, the country's warm water lakes can only be used as baths seasonally. On the contrary, baths established at warm water thermal springs can be used and visited all year. Although more and more thermal baths are being established and operated throughout the country (i.e. Bükfürdő, Eger, Gyula, Hajdúszoboszló, Harkány, Héviz, Komárom, Miskolctapolca, Sárvár) most warm water springs and baths can be found in the capital. Therefore, Budapest is known as a bath capital in the international tourism.

About 'wonder fountains' in the area of today's Gellért Bath there are some documents already from the XVth century. Later the Turks liked its water very much, as it was bigger and hotter watered than the other baths of Buda side of the city.

The world famous Gellért Bath is well known and very popular for the tourists. It was built in secession style in the same complex with the Hotel Gellért, which hotel was one of the most famous for many years, as there were not too many hotels all over Europe built together with a thermal spa.

The opening year was 1918, in 1927 opened the wave bath and in 1934 the whirlpool bath.

Thanks for the reconstructions, nowadays the guests can enjoy its outside pools, inside thermal pools, whirlpools, sauna, and steam bath.
